ProfNets of the Week
by admin ~ May 8, 2009
It’s time again to take a look at some of the strange and interesting queries from ProfNet, a service that sends us journalist queries and calls for sources dozens of times throughout the day.
Enjoy!HEALTH: Health Impacts of the Recession — Cloaked
A reporter with a top U.S. daily sends the following query: I am looking into stories on the health impacts of the recession. I’m looking for an expert who has done hard research on substance abuse/alcoholism in a recession. Anyone who has studied eating habits and other health effects in a down economy and can share their findings would be helpful as well. I am looking for actual studies on these topics if they exist. CAREERS: Who’s Hiring College Grads? — Monster.com
A recent MonsterTRAK survey showed that hiring of college grads is down, but not out. I’m looking for recruiters working college campuses and other HR specialists to find out what positions are most in-demand and to get tips for college grads seeking employment. I’d also like to hear from college seniors and December 2008 grads who are still looking, to share their thoughts on the current climate. Please e-mail credentials and comments with “College” in the subject line. Interviews will be done via e-mail. Contact:XXXXXXXX
WEDDINGS: Dysfunctional Family Wedding: Tips from Pros — Content That Works
I am working on an article for the newspaper/Web syndicate, Content That Works. The article is for the Bride’s Guide content, looking at the dysfunctional family wedding: how to handle a wedding, from invitations to the day itself, when a family is fractured and feuding. I am looking for therapists and other experts to interview about how to handle wedding planning when negotiating the minefields of family conflict. Content That Works is a syndicate that produces content for other newspapers and their Web sites. Please contact me directly and not the publication’s editors. I’m a freelancer. Contact:XXXXXXXXX
