FedEx Promotion Aides Job Seekers

From the stimulus burrito to the five dollar foot long, and beyond, we’ve seen all kinds of promotions playing on the current recession. It is impossible to turn on the television without seeing a commercial (if you don’t have DVR) referencing some sort of recession special, and it is even happening on Wisteria Lane, as the recession was written into a recent episode of ABC’s Desperate Housewives. While some might argue that the media and marketers are taking advantage of a tough situation, others are just happy to take advantage of a sale or a discount.
According to this article from an ABC affiliate, FedEx Office (formerly FedEx Kinkos) stores across the country made up to 25 copies of customers’ resumes for free yesterday. With unemployment reaching an all time high since 1983 in February, I think this is a clever promotion. Sure, FedEx is doing this to gain some attention, but what better a way to do so than to help people out. In an article on MSN Money’s Money Blog FedEx Office reported:
‘”We understand that the economy has affected many people in a very profound way, and we want to help,” said Brian Philips, president and CEO of FedEx Office, in announcing the offer. “Printing résumés is one small way we can use our resources to help those who need it.”‘
