The Great Compression: Tiny T-Shirts Bringing in Big Promotions

by stephanie ~ October 24, 2008

In times of economic hardship, it is even more important for companies to continue marketing to consumers.  At first, companies may think to cut back on marketing expenditures, but in order to secure limited consumer spending dollars, they must continue marketing and promoting their brand in more captivating and unique ways.

One company, TeeCompressed.com, is helping advertisers do just that.  TeeCompressed.com offers a new option for companies looking to entice consumers with promotional T-shirts.  The company will create your custom shirt using 100% cotton shirts using standard brands like Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, etc.  (They even have organic options for “Go Green” companies!)  The draw with this company is that they will compress and package shirts so they fit in the palm of your hand.  They also will fit the packages, which come in a variety of shapes, with a custom insert-card to advertise the company logo.

This new promotional strategy may be a good way to reach weary consumers.  They are easy to transport and store, which is good news for companies with limited funding and space.  I haven’t seen any of these shirts yet, but I did have a compressed American Girl washcloth when I was younger.  At age 10, I thought it was amazing.  At 21, I don’t know if this will take consumers by storm any more than other free t-shirts do.  That being said, the economic value of these shirts may be more important to promoters than the shock value.
