Profnets of the Week
by admin ~ October 17, 2008
It’s time again to take a look at some of the strange and interesting queries from Profnet, a service that sends us journalist queries and calls for sources dozens of times throughout the day. Enjoy!
Sorry, but LOL!
BELIEFS: Paranormal NYC and/or Gay Ghosts? — Chelsea Now/EdgeNewYork.com I am a freelance writer working on two paranormal-themed Halloween stories. The first, for the weekly newspaper Chelsea Now, looks at haunted buildings and paranormal activities taking place in NYC’s Chelsea neighborhood. The second, a national feature story for the gay Web site EdgeNewYork.com (with portals in several U.S. cities), looks at gay ghosts and real-life hauntings by gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered spirits. It also covers the topic as it applies to the world of film, comics and fiction. If you would like to be interviewed, please e-mail me. Contact: xxxx@hotmail.com
So those girls will have to keep the same cell number… forever?
BEHAVIOR/TODAY: Phone Number Tattoos to Attract Boys — New York Daily News
Plugged to a report out of Australia today on teenage girls who tattoo their cell phone numbers on their backs while at the beach as a way to attract boys, this is a parenting/health story on what parents can and/or should do about such attention-getting ploys. I’d like to talk both with child psychologists and mental health experts to find out why teenage girls do this, and with parenting experts to learn steps parents should take to curb such behavior, if any. I would like to learn what makes girls engage in such behavior. Contact: xxxxx@mail.computer.net
I am going to predict that they will still be cats, dogs, birds, reptiles and small rodents.
PETS: The Future of Pets — Maxim
For a Maxim magazine story, I’m seeking an expert in animals and/or genetics who can talk about the future of pets (specifically, what they’re going to be like in 25 years). The expert should be able to answer questions about the future of pet cloning, exotic animals/breeds, designer pets (a la hypoallergenic cat breeds), pet accessories, etc. I’m a freelancer. You really don’t hear this request everyday:
AUTOMOTIVE: Trick Out My RV (Recreational Vehicle) — RV PRO
I’m looking to highlight appliances and other products that could be used to accessorize the inside of a recreational vehicle. They need to be products that are currently on the market now (vs. concept products) and items that can be retailed by merchants in RV dealerships (rather than products sold only online). The products need to be able to hold up to road conditions (lots of bumping going on inside RVs while traveling). Companies that are selected to participate will be asked to submit a brief product listing (70-80 words) and a good-size jpeg image of their product. There is no charge of any kind to have a product listed in this product section. RV PRO is a national trade magazine with a reach of 15,000. Our primary readers are RV dealerships and RV repair/service shops. Contact: xxxxx@nbm.com
