There are three very interesting articles in today’s New York Times about the lengths companies (both internet and not) are going to secure their holding and audience on the net.

In this story, Rough Guides and Lonley Planet expand what they offer online to compete with online travel rivals like tripadvisor.com.  It’s about time…

Here, social networking site Plaxo announces it’s up for auction after rolling out more functionality this past fall to compete with LinkedIn.com and Facebook.com.

And this advertising story focuses on American Eagle Outfitter’s try at product placing in their own webisodes and tv commercials.
